Your way to precision in steel applications
In continuous collaboration with our customers, Sidermes Sensors offers a wide spectrum of high technology sensors and instrumentation, aiming to satisfy their needs on applications in metal industry.
STEEL LINE
SENSORS
SIDERMES produces a broad range of platinum-platinum/rhodium (Pt-Pt/Rh) immersion thermocouples used to measure the full temperature range of molten metal for all applications. The SUPERTEMP immersion thermocouples are produced pursuant to the IPTS 68 and ITS 90 standards.
The SIDERMES immersion thermocouples are produced in accordance with quality standard ISO 9001:2008. They are compatible and interchangeable with the most widespread connection and instrument systems on the market.
The SUPERSAMP samplers are designed for fast, safe, and economical molten metal sampling. Various versions are available, so that the most specific and easiest sampling procedure and metal analysis can be achieved for every application. They provide the user with a representative sample of the liquid bath which, after a rapid surface cleaning, is ready for the chemical analysis. The lab preparation time is minimized by the special design of these samplers.
These probes are a combination of two or more "STANDARD" probes.
The available probes are:
- IRUBAT, temperature + sample and free oxygen
- TECARB, temperature + %C
- TOX, temperature + ppm of oxygen
Although recommended for automatic measurement systems, they may also be used in manual applications.
The SUBLANCE probes, used with automatic measurement systems, are designed to reduce the tap-to-tap time in the converter, avoiding direct and indirect costs due to the rotational movement of the converter (tilting). The available SUBLANCE sensors meet all measurement and sampling needs in all possible combinations. Furthermore, they can determine the level of the bath in the converter.
The following versions are available:
- Te, temperature
- TOS, temperature + sample + ppm oxygen
- TCS, temperature + %C + sample
- TOS, temperature + ppm oxygen
- TSOSS: Temperature + Oxygen+ Slag Sampler
- BL, bath level
The SUBLANCE sensors are customized according to the specific needs of each customer.
Our TOX (Temperature & Oxygen) probes measure the temperature and ppm of free oxygen in liquid metal. The two mV signals generated by the TOX probes are transmitted to the instrument, processed and visualized so as to display the values of temperature and ppm of free oxygen; furthermore, the value of %C or %Al dissolved in the bath of liquid steel is automatically calculated.
The ACCU-H2 probes allow on-line Hydrogen measurements (ppm) of dissolved Hydrogen in molten steel, within an analysis period usually below 60 seconds. The probes are composed of various parts designed in order to grant an accurate separation of sampled gas in between the carrying gas (usually, Nitrogen) and the Hydrogen. This technology and probe design grants the possibility to perform safe and accurate measures also in difficult conditions and special steel grades.
The FeO2 sensor is used to measure the oxygen level in the slag. This way, it is easier to achieve the oxidation balance between slag and steel, avoiding re-oxidation, obtaining benefits in the desulfurization of steels and in the use of deoxidizers.
The silicon probe measures the level of silicon in the pig iron. Controlling silicon levels avoids to act doubly in the deslagging process, reducing the use of deoxidizing elements and avoiding the accumulation of slag.
With this sensor we can measure the level of silicon in seconds and act consequently. Conventional measurement methods do not allow this level of agility.
Apart from the silicon level, this sensor also measures the temperature of the cast iron.

SIDERMES produces a broad range of platinum-platinum/rhodium (Pt-Pt/Rh) immersion thermocouples used to measure the temperature of molten metal for all applications. The SUPERTEMP immersion thermocouples are produced pursuant to the IPTS 68 and ITS 90 standards.
T The SIDERMES immersion thermocouples are produced in accordance with quality standard ISO 9001:2008. They are compatible and interchangeable with the most widespread connection and instrument systems on the market.
In addition to the traditional thermocouples, SIDERMES supplies special thermocouples constructed with non-splash material in order to avoid splashes and turbulence during immersion thereby increasing operator safety and quality.
Easy to use, the SUPERCARB cups for thermal analysis are designed to achieve fast and reliable results by means of high precision thermocouples type K (Chromel / Alumel) or S (Pt-Pt/Rh10%) measuring the cooling curve and determining the %C of the liquid metal.
The SUPERCARB S cups measure the %C in steel, while the SUPERCARB T or K cups measure the %CE, %C, and %Si (or morphology) in cast iron.
The SUPERSAMP samplers are designed for fast, safe, and economical molten metal sampling; various versions are available, so that the most specific and easiest sampling and metal analysis procedure can be followed for all applications. They provide the user with a representative sample of the molten metal which, after a rapid surface cleaning, is ready for the chemical analysis. The lab preparation time is minimized by the special design of these samplers.

SIDERMES produces a broad range of SUPERTEMP Chromel (Ni-Cr alloy)/Alumel (Ni-Al alloy) immersion thermocouples, K-type thermocouples used to measure non-ferrous melted metal in all possible applications; the SUPERTEMP thermocouples of type S may also be used.
Upon request, the metal overcap may be supplied in steel, aluminum, copper or bronze.
The SIDERMES immersion thermocouples are produced in accordance with quality standard ISO9001:2008.They are compatible and interchangeable with the most widespread connection and instrument systems on the market.
In addition to the traditional thermocouples, SIDERMES supplies special thermocouples constructed with non-splash material in order to avoid splashes and turbulence during immersion thereby increasing operator safety and quality.
Our TOX/CU probes measure the temperature and ppm or free oxygen in molten copper, in less than 10 seconds.
The two mV signals generated by the TOX/CU probes are transmitted to the device, processed and visualized so as to display the values of temperature and ppm of free oxygen.
In comparison with lab analysis, the TOX/CU sensor results in a rapid oxygen value, saving time and ensuring on-line quality control.
Easy to use, the thermal analysis cups SUPERAL used with our ALUDELTA device are designed to achieve fast and reliable results from the thermal analysis of aluminum alloys. The high precision K-type thermocouples (Chromel/Alumel) provide measurement of the change in structure and control of the grain refining in just two minutes. Also, SUPERCARB T cups are available for special low temperature non-Ferrous applications.
